Telepsychiatry for Child Services Founded by a child and adolescent psychiatrist with a specialty emphasis in developmental disorders, InSight focuses many of its services on diagnosing and treating the behavioral health needs of children and adolescents within numerous settings. Nearly half of InSight’s clinical team is dually boarded in both adult and child psychiatry, and it is within the area of psychiatry where the nation faces extreme shortages and increasing needs. This shortage has left many children’s programs and mental health centers facing long waiting lists, backlogs of consumers, and considerable difficulty in maintaining continuity of care for children. InSight’s telepsychiatry services address these needs by providing consistent access to quality care within designated blocks of time for evaluation, medication management, treatment planning, supervision or medical leadership, and even crisis intervention. Depending on the needs of the particular clinic or system, InSight typically offers outpatient telepsychiatry services in scheduled blocks of time on a regular basis from the same clinician. Under this model, the InSight telepsychiatrist becomes a regular and active member of the clinic’s treatment team while maintaining a long-term case load of children. Depending on the case, the InSight telepsychaitrist will often conduct both group and individual interviews with the child and his or her parents or guardians. InSight’s telepsychiatrists are also accustomed to working with children’s case workers and within a collaborative ACT or PACT team. With InSight and regardless of geography, children’s programs can now access as much child and adolescent psychiatry as they need. No longer having to struggle to recruit, retain, or reimburse the travel or relocation expenses of these specialty psychiatrists, children’s programs can benefit from a clinically validated and tested model of providing high quality children’s psychiatric services. |
